The Petit Palais has twenty-five ceramics by Dalpayrat: two monumental vases which were exhibited at the 1900 World Exhibition and nine small pieces acquired in 1907 for the Palais Galliera. This collection was added to by two other acquisitions made in 1991 and 1992, and by the deposit in 2005 of 12 ceramics belonging to the artist’s great-grandson, Philippe Dalpayrat.

The dish has several unusual characteristics including use of bas-relief and classical iconography (Judgement of Paris, inspired by an engraving by Marc Antoine Raimondi of which the Petit Palais owns a copy), which is very unusual in the work by this ceramicist from Bourg-la-Reine.
