This painting, one of a series of five illustrating scenes from the life of Diana, comprises two parts, with a 17th-century canvas integrated into a larger, later composition.
The five original canvases of varying dimensions and shapes (this one being an oval) are attributed to Dorigny (1616-1665), the student and son-in-law of Simon Vouet.
