Visitors with visual impairments

Entry to the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions is free of charge for visitors with a disability and one companion or carer. Valid proof of eligibility must be shown.

ARRIVING AT THE MUSEUM


Disabled parking spaces are available near to the museum. You can download a map at the bottom of the page.
You can also download a description of the route from Champs-Elysées-Clémenceau Metro Station to the Petit Palais at the bottom of the page. 
The accessible entrance is located on the ground floor, to the right of the external stairway at the front of the building. It is equipped with a voice announcer.
 
WELCOME TO THE MUSEUM


Guide dogs for visitors with visual impairments are welcome in the museum.
Emotional support animals accompanying visitors with a disability are welcome on presentation of a medical certificate.
The building is accessible (except the hall on Level 1): all the galleries, corridors and access routes, auditorium, garden, café, educational workshops, lifts and toilets have been adapted for wheelchair users. You can download a map of the museum at the bottom of the page.
The public amenities (ticket desk, shop, toilets and cloakroom) are located on Level 0.
Lifts to the galleries on Level 1 are located on both sides of the reception area on Level 0. They are equipped with Braille buttons and voice announcers.
The garden and café are located on Level 1. Disabled toilets are available in the café. There is a lift with Braille buttons and a voice announcer to access the mezzanine.
Our reception staff are trained to cater for your needs. Please don’t hesitate to ask them if you need any information, directions or help.
 
VISITING THE MUSEUM
To make your visit as enjoyable as possible, the following equipment is available on loan from the reception desk on Level 0. Proof of identity must be shown.

  • Folding seats
  • Magnifying glasses

Accessible aids for interpreting the exhibits are freely available throughout the museum:

  • A model that explains the architecture of Petit Palais is located in the reception hall on Level 1 (not accessible to wheelchair users). Please ask a member of staff to remove the lid so that you can touch it.
  • A touch table of sculpture materials is located in the 19th Century Sculptors Gallery on Level 0.
  • A selection of tactile reproductions of animal statues is located in the 19th Century Sculptors Gallery on Level 0.
  • A tactile reproduction of a bust sculpture is located in the Dalou Rotunda Gallery on Level 0.

These aids may be moved or temporarily unavailable to accommodate displays of the permanent collections.
Any member of staff in the gallery will be happy to show you these aids.
For an unguided tour, the new Petit Palais visitor app has an audio-descriptive tour of a selection of works in the permanent collections. You can use the app remotely or in the museum, on Android or IOS. Free download from AppStore or Google Play.
Accessible visitor guides for the permanent collections are available: a tactile visitor guide and a large print visitor guide can be downloaded from the bottom of this page or you can borrow a copy from the reception desk on Level 0 by simply showing proof of identity.
