Bronze and Alexandre Bigot enamelled stoneware
Sculptor Camille Alaphilippe, winner of the Prix de Rome scholarship in 1898, began his career in Paris in the 1900s. He was passionate about the possibilities that stoneware offered and he worked with Alexandre Bigot, who ran an architectural ceramics factory which enjoyed considerable renown at the time. The spectacular Woman with a Monkey presented at the 1908 Salon was a product of their collaboration and a one-of-a-kind technical feat.

El escultor Camille Alaphilippe, premio de Roma en 1898, empezó su carrera en París en la década de 1900. Se apasionó por las posibilidades que ofrecía el gres y trabajó con Alexandre Bigot, que dirigía una manufactura de cerámica arquitectónica muy famosa por aquel entonces. Presentada en el Salón de 1908, la espectacular Mujer con mono es el resultado de su colaboración y representa una proeza técnica única sui generis.
